# Social Strategies That Drive Website Traffic

These days, every business has a website. Most businesses go into website creation with a feeling of nothing more than it’s something that they have to do. There isn’t a lot of thought into how the website is developed beyond a pretty design. These websites are stagnant in nature and really are a waste of money.

Why? Because they aren’t doing anything to generate revenue for your business. A website today needs to be the hub of all your marketing activities. This is true for all tactics executed both on- and offline. Your audience may respond well to traditional print marketing, but your return on that (often costly) print investment may lie in your ability to drive traffic to your site with a call-to-action.

Online, there are a lot of great ways to generate traffic to your site by simply utilizing social media. Here’s a quick check-list of things you should consider when developing a social strategy that drives web traffic:

- Include your website on all your social media sites. Make sure your URL is filled in on these social sites so people know where to go to find out more about what you do.
- Proactively monitor and engage on your social sites. Be proactive and get involved in groups and discussions that affect your potential buyers.
- Create a blog and keep the content fresh. This is a great way to keep your information in front of your potential buyers and search engines. The key is to blog consistently, keep the information relevant to your target audience and focus on speaking their language.
- Invest in social advertising. No matter which social channel you choose to promote your business on, be sure to include links back to your website or specific landing pages.
